Strainer Screens & Filter Elements

Replacement strainer screens, basket elements, and filter elements for Y-strainers, T-strainers, basket strainers, and duplex strainers, wire mesh, perforated plate, wedge wire, and sintered metal in stainless steel, Monel, and specialty alloys.

Overview

Strainer screens are the consumable element of any strainer, they capture debris and eventually need replacement when the mesh is damaged, corroded, or when a different mesh size is required. AQ Process Systems sources and exports replacement screens for all common strainer types and manufacturers.

We supply screens in wire mesh (woven SS 304, 316, Monel, Hastelloy), perforated plate (laser-cut or punched), wedge wire (profile wire for self-cleaning applications), and sintered metal (for very fine filtration). Screens are fabricated to match the existing strainer body dimensions.

For plants standardising their strainer screens, we provide bulk screen packages covering all installed strainer models, ensuring maintenance spares are always available and correctly identified.

Duplex Mesh/Perforated ScreensMesh overlay on perforated backingComposite screens with fine wire mesh supported by perforated plate backing, combining fine filtration with structural strength.
Perforated & Wedge Wire
Perforated Plate ScreensSS 304/316 | 0.5mm, 12mm holes | Laser or punchPerforated stainless steel screens for coarse straining, strong, durable, easy to clean. For basket and T-strainer applications.
Wedge Wire ScreensProfile wire | Non-clogging | Self-cleaningWedge wire (profile wire) screens with V-shaped openings that resist clogging, for applications with fibrous or sticky debris.
Specialty Elements
Sintered Metal Filter ElementsSS 316L sintered | 1-100 micronSintered metal elements for ultra-fine filtration, cleanable and reusable alternative to disposable cartridge filters.
Magnetic Strainer ElementsPermanent magnets + mesh screenCombination magnetic and mesh screen elements capturing both ferrous particles (magnetically) and non-ferrous debris (mesh).

Frequently Asked Questions

Strainer Screens & Filter Elements

How do I identify the correct replacement screen for my strainer?

+

You need the strainer manufacturer, model number, and size, or physical dimensions of the existing screen (diameter, length, mesh size). We maintain cross-reference data for major strainer brands and can identify the correct screen from your strainer details. Alternatively, send us the old screen or a photograph with dimensions.

What is the difference between wire mesh and perforated plate screens?

+

Wire mesh provides finer filtration (down to 0.037mm / 400 mesh) but is less structurally strong and more prone to damage. Perforated plate is stronger and more durable but only practical for coarser filtration (0.5mm+ holes). Duplex screens combine both, fine mesh supported by perforated plate backing, providing fine filtration with structural strength.

What screen material should I use?

+

SS 304 for general water and steam service. SS 316 for corrosive fluids, seawater, and chemical service. Monel for high-temperature corrosive service and seawater. Hastelloy for aggressive acids and chemicals. The screen material should be at least as corrosion-resistant as the piping system material.

How often should strainer screens be replaced?

+

Screens should be replaced when they are damaged (torn mesh, corroded holes, deformed basket), when the mesh size needs to change, or when cleaning can no longer restore acceptable flow. In clean service, screens can last 5-10+ years. In corrosive or abrasive service, 1-3 years may be typical. Inspect screens during every cleaning.

Do you supply custom-fabricated strainer screens?

+

Yes. We fabricate screens to match existing strainer dimensions, from a drawing, sample screen, or strainer model number. Custom screen shapes, mesh sizes, and materials are available. For non-standard strainers or obsolete models where OEM screens are unavailable, custom fabrication ensures continued operation.
