Cv Flow Coefficient Calculator

Cv is the flow coefficient: the flow of water in US gallons per minute at 60 deg F that passes through a valve with a 1 psi pressure drop. These formulas are simplified and assume turbulent, non choked flow for liquids and a standard steam relation. Use for preliminary sizing only. For final control valve sizing, full ISA/IEC methods accounting for choked flow, piping geometry, and Fk factors should be applied. Contact us for detailed sizing.
