Flash Vessel / Flash Tank Spares

Replacement parts for flash vessels and flash tanks, internal baffles, demister pads, level gauges, safety valves, control valves, drain orifices, and nozzle connections for condensate flash steam recovery systems.

Overview

Flash vessels separate flash steam from hot condensate, recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted. Their internal components, baffles, demister pads, and level controls, are critical to efficient separation and must be maintained to prevent carryover and energy loss.

AQ Process Systems sources and exports replacement internals, instruments, and safety devices for flash vessels used in steam distribution systems, boiler blowdown heat recovery, and process condensate networks. We support both vertical and horizontal flash vessel configurations.

All pressure components are supplied with appropriate code certification (ASME, PED, or IBR) and material traceability for seamless integration into your plant maintenance programme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Flash Vessel / Flash Tank Spares

What spare parts do flash vessels need?

+

The main maintenance items are demister pads (fouling and damage from condensate carryover), level gauges and transmitters (corrosion and scaling), safety valves (periodic testing and recertification), gaskets (replaced every opening), and drain orifice plates (erosion). Internal baffles and vortex breakers may need replacement in corrosive condensate service.

How often should flash vessel demister pads be replaced?

+

Demister pad replacement depends on the cleanliness of the condensate. In clean steam condensate systems, pads may last 5-10 years. In boiler blowdown flash recovery or process condensate with dissolved solids, scaling can foul the mesh within 1-3 years. Inspect during scheduled shutdowns and replace if pressure drop across the pad exceeds design values.

Do you supply safety valves for flash vessels?

+

Yes. We supply ASME Section VIII certified safety valves sized for flash vessel service, set pressure matched to the vessel's Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP). Valves are supplied set, tested, and sealed with certification documentation.

What is the purpose of a vortex breaker in a flash vessel?

+

The vortex breaker is a flat plate installed above the condensate drain nozzle inside the vessel. Without it, the draining condensate can form a vortex (whirlpool) that pulls flash steam down into the drain line, wasting energy and causing water hammer in downstream piping. It is a simple but critical component.

Can you supply level control instruments for flash vessels?

+

Yes. We supply level gauges (reflex and transparent type), electronic level transmitters (differential pressure, guided wave radar, and displacer types), and level control valves for flash vessel condensate level management. Instruments are rated for the vessel's operating pressure and temperature.
